Overtime operating energy consumption analysis of VRF system in office buildings based on measured data

Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system has a good characteristic of individual control which can meet the demand of air conditioning during overtime. Studies the overtime energy consumption of VRF system with data statistics and software simulation based on field data of office buildings in Shanghai. The results show that overtime operating energy consumption ratio is almost the same with the average value of 35.6% under nine cases with different values of SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) and HSPF (heating seasonal performance factor) during simulation. The maximum deviation between simulation and measured data is 13.8%. The simulating method based on the statistical PLR(partial load ratio) can reflect the actual performance. Suggests VRF system for overtime working demand in office buildings.
